Hey all!

Long time no speak, I'm back from America! I had the most amazing ten days there which I will never forget (I'm hoping to fit in a post of what I got up to!) I am missing everyone I met there like crazy, jet lag has taken over and the portions here suddenly look really small BUT its still good to be back!

I finally got to meet up with Jess- two weeks apart is too long! We went to Brick Lane for a trip to vintage shops and the market. We found some gorgeous old postcards for sale in a cute antique shop in Algate East. We spent a good hour (a little embarrassing...) reading all of the old inscriptions and love notes scribbled on the back. I wish people still wrote letters, you really can't beat the feeling of receiving a surprise parcel at your door!

Honest Truvia, you're the answer to my wishes...

'From a leaf so naturally, without a single calorie, honest Truvia it's true!'

Do you have the fattest sweet-tooth ever?! I know I do! If you check back through the blog roll, i'm always baking sweet treats, anything savoury is blogged by Paloma. I thought my life as I knew it was over as...Iv'e given up sugar!! (except fructose)

This means no sweets, ice-cream, chocolate, and I thought it meant no home-baking either, all for glowing clear skin and a summer body. I was so wrong! I went along to my local supermarket and saw a bag of Truvia - the pretty green packaging caught my eye. It has NO calories and is made from the Stevia leaf. I thought i'd look online for recipes to use and found this one for choco chip cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp baking soda
  • 12 cup (1 stick) light butter, softened
  • 14 cup + 2 Tbsp Truvía® Baking Blend
  • 12 tsp vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup (6 oz.) chocolate chips / Fudge pieces (sugar-free)
  • 12 Tbsp molasses (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 375° F, 190 °C

Beat butter, Truvía® Baking Blend and vanilla (and optional molasses) in a separate large mixing bowl.
 Mix in egg.
Combine flour, salt and baking soda in a small bowl.
Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop rounded tablespoon on cookie sheets and press down to slightly flatten.

Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until lightly browned.

DIY Aztec Nail Art Tutorial...

Me again :)
While the cat's away, the mouse will play right? I can't help myself, Paloma's away in the lush New York, so I have decided to take some time out of my 'busy' schedule to have a bit of pampering and do my nails...Aztec Style!!!

I've been wanting to try this out for SO long, and considering i'm actually quite impatient when it comes to nail art, i wasn't looking forward to the outcome. Surprisingly it's very therapeutic and is quite easy and fun, once you get into the swing of it!

This one is really for all you festival-goers. This weekend Lovebox and Latitude are taking place, and my sister, the lucky bitch, got her hands on some free guest pass Latitude tickets! I'm crazy jealous, and she's going to see our babies...the Maccabees :'(
Even if you're not off to a fest this year, these nails are perfect for the summer weather, so give them a try, they're easier than you think!

(email your nail pics to pomandjess@gmail.com and i'll post them in the next post)

So...Gather together essentials - Choose any two bold colours (that compliment eachother) i've chosen OPI - Nail Lacquer in 'A Roll in the Hague' and Nails-Topshop in 'Green Room'.
You'll need a black and a white nail art pen. I have a black fine tip pen from Topshop and a white felt tip from BarryM. You could use a brush dipped in nail varnish - but you'll have to be super accurate!
Finally a base and top coat - i've used Champneys double-up coat.
 1) Apply your base coat to all nails
2) Put stripes of colour, using your nail varnishes, on your nails, alternating from horizontal to vertical on each nail. Don't worry about being messy...you can fix that later :)
 DRY

3) Take your white nail art pen and draw lines over your nails, over the join of the stripes drawn previously... and more!

 4) Take your black pen and carry on drawing lines over your nails, mostly on the joins. When that's done, be creative! Draw some dots, triangles, squiggles etc. in between the lines.
DRY
5) Top coat and tidy up with nail varnish remover and a cotton bud et voila! Funky aztec nails in no time!

Gotta check the forecast, throw away my skateboard...

  Max Can't Surf - Fidlar

Hey my lovelies :)
Oh my gosh! It's sunny, like actually hot, summery, sun! This calls for celebration, so stay checking the blog for summer fiestas and barbeques...and lots and lots of Pimms!

So, Paloma is leaving me again, I know, she's just got back, but tomorrow she's hopping on a flight to New York all alone (BRAVE) , courtesy of the 'Young Leaders Award'. Basically Paloma is just so perfect, ridiculously smart  and also creative and a 'credit to the school', she has been chosen to attend a business trip to meet lots of lovely new people from all over the world. So, expect some fancy workwear posts ft. the famous yellow taxis :) I'm gonna miss her stupidly!

The blog is going to be bursting at the striped borders with posts this summer. I'm off to Rome this year with my sister for a girly holiday. I've been to Rome before when I was 7 but I genuinely can't remember any of it so i'm basically going to a completely new place and i'm ridiculously excited.

Paloma is wearing - Dress (worn as skirt) - Primark, Top - Zara, Shoes - Primark
I am wearing - Sunglasses - Primark, Crop - New Look, Dungaree Dress - Topshop, Shoes - Topshop

Also, i've just bought my Reading Festival ticket - I know I left it a bit late, but I couldn't bear seeing so much money leaving my bank account. Unfortunately Paloma can't come so i'll be scanning in my photos from my disposable camera and showing you what I get up to. I'm so excited to see Alt - J, Bastille, The 1975, Haim, Peace, Swim Deep, Spashh, Wavves, Fidlar, Spector, Twin Atlantic, Palma Violets, Imagine Dragons, Deap Vally, Tame Impala....aaargh so many more!

Anyway, back to Earth, here is a quick lil post of our outfits on Paloma's last day of Sixth Form, I have a week left :( It almost seems like a blast from the past, beachy drawing prints and bright primary colours, and of course a trusty dungaree dress! I grabbed this one in the Topshop sale, originally £38, I got it for £10 ! Bargain queen right here :)

Have you got any plans for summer?? Come along and say hi at Reading if you see me :)
Love you all, Jess xxx

Go into business with a grizzly bear, but just don't sit down 'cause I've moved your chair

Camisole- Primark, Jeans- Topshop, Shoes- Spain, Bow- Birdcage Bows

Hey all!

Me again... you are probably fed up of Paloma solo posts by now but I wanted to give the blog some attention before I am off (yet again!) on Monday to Washington DC and then New York. I am off to GYLC (Global Young Leaders Conference) through school which involves visiting historic sites in America and also meeting young people from all over the World. I am super excited but also really nervous because I am travelling by myself and am a pretty horrific flyer so wish me luck!

The weather here has been amazing- a long time coming- but amazing nonetheless! This gorgeous floral bow was made by Emmah at Birdcage Bows- an online shop full to the brim with beautiful hand made bows of all sizes. I couldn't resist this beauty and can't wait to style it with a top knot or loose curls for the holidays!

You can even design your own bow and have it made for you- what more could you want?!

Loads of love,

Paloma xxx
