A wave, an awesome wave, that rushes skin and widens in blooded veins...

Hey you lovely lot :)

As you all know, I've been in France, Samoens to be exact, for the last week, abandoning Paloma to post on the blog by herself. Just to prove to you all that I haven't been skiving and I miss our lovely little blog and especially Paloma terribly as a week is just too long!
I've been skiing since I was about 12 so I'm steady on a pair of skis or snowblades, but unfortunately I'm no pro :)

So, on the slopes I had a laugh with my dad, as my mum doesn't ski (she's petrified of heights) and she stayed on the safe ground below taking my Boxer/Collie dog Sasha for endless walks in the snow. My dad and I went on routes I the 'Grand Massif' which consists of the Swiss, Italian and French mountains. On occasion we would seek refuge from the below zero temperatures and occasional blizzards, we would warm up with a bowl of vegetable soup and a good cup of tea.

The town of Samoens is a beautiful one. With gingerbread-like chalets and little patisseries and boutiques selling Christmassy style goodies, although it's February!

Overall, I had the most amazing time and although I had to bear the freezing cold, drinking what felt like gallons of tea certainly made up for it. I recommend anyone who's thinking of going skiing to go to Samoens as it really captures the spirit of wintertime :)

Hey,

Yesterday I had a gorgeous day out with my mum, something I don't normally get the chance to do. I have been trying to make the most of London recently, as its such a beautiful city and today was no exception! We visited Picadilly and Oxford Street, I have never been to Fortnum and Mason before and was literally like a child in a sweet shop, it was absolutely gorgeous, especially with all their stunning Easter displays! We also spent over two hours in Forever 21, the new spring collection means its definitely worth a visist. Studying A-level art, I also wanted to take a look at the new exhibition in the Saatchi gallery, which was really interesting, it never disappoints!

Lots of love, Paloma xxx

PS, as you have probably noticed Jess has been a little absent from the blog, she is having a ball in France skiing but will be back next week :) She says hi! I am very jealous, it looks lush!

Holiday in Paris- Day Two

Here is the second part of the recap from our little holiday in Paris a couple of weeks back now (how I wish I could jet off back there today!) We visited the Lourve, and walking around I couldn't help thinking that I was on set in the Davinci code, every inch of the building inside and out was beautiful and intricate, and just as breathtaking as the paintings themselves. We of course could not visit Paris without a trip to Laudree, to gaze at the hundreds of macaroons adorning the shelves, some of the displays were like pieces of art themselves! Our day finished with a trip to the eiffel tower and a boat trip along the Seine at night  (its funny seeing the tower in real life as it literally looks like someone has picked up a toy one and just dropped it in the middle of Paris, nethertheless it was absolutely stunning!)

What we made: Yummy Jammy Biscuits

Hey,
With half term beginning, I fancied doing some baking, something which I haven't had the chance to so far this year! (terrible I know!) I have to admit that the whole experience was painful as I couldn't eat any of them (given up sweet things for lent!) but seeing how much other people enjoyed them made up for it, well almost...
I decided to make yummy jammy biscuits as they are always the first ones I grab out of the biscuit tin so I thought it would be great to try some homemade alternatives, and they didn't disappoint, well so I am told anyways!

Ingredients
250g butter
140g Caster Sugar
1 Egg Yolk
2tsp Vanilla Extract
300g Plain Flour
6tbsp Rasberry Jam
6tbsp Icing Sugar

1) Mix the butter and sugar together in a bowl

2) Add an egg yolk and vanilla extract
3) Sift in the flour and stir until well combined, mix with your hands

4) Split the dough into two, wrap in clingfilm and put in the fridge for 30 minutes

5) Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface, and cut out roughly 28 circles
6) Lay the biscuits onto two lined baking trays
7) Using a 4cm cutter, cut out a circle out of half of the biscuits
8)Bake for 10-12 mins until pale golden, then lift onto a cooling rack.

9) Mix the raspberry jam with the sifted icing sugar.
10) When the biscuits are cool, spoon a little of the jam onto each whole biscuit, then carefully sandwich the other biscuits on top.

Enjoy with a nice hot cup of tea or coffee!

The real thing- The Maccabees

 Hey guys,

Just a teeny tiny post showing our little contribution to Valentines day (adding pinks and reds into our outfits) and going for tea in a super cute cafe. But we had to resist the gorgeous cakes as we have both given up sweet stuff till Easter, and avoiding chocolate is difficult on any average day, but today of all days we were surrounded by it, it was so hard!

How was everyone else's day?

Lots of love, Paloma and Jess xxx
