DIY Aztec Nail Art Tutorial...

Me again :)
While the cat's away, the mouse will play right? I can't help myself, Paloma's away in the lush New York, so I have decided to take some time out of my 'busy' schedule to have a bit of pampering and do my nails...Aztec Style!!!

I've been wanting to try this out for SO long, and considering i'm actually quite impatient when it comes to nail art, i wasn't looking forward to the outcome. Surprisingly it's very therapeutic and is quite easy and fun, once you get into the swing of it!

This one is really for all you festival-goers. This weekend Lovebox and Latitude are taking place, and my sister, the lucky bitch, got her hands on some free guest pass Latitude tickets! I'm crazy jealous, and she's going to see our babies...the Maccabees :'(
Even if you're not off to a fest this year, these nails are perfect for the summer weather, so give them a try, they're easier than you think!

(email your nail pics to pomandjess@gmail.com and i'll post them in the next post)
 Loads of love, Jess xxx

So...Gather together essentials - Choose any two bold colours (that compliment eachother) i've chosen OPI - Nail Lacquer in 'A Roll in the Hague' and Nails-Topshop in 'Green Room'.
You'll need a black and a white nail art pen. I have a black fine tip pen from Topshop and a white felt tip from BarryM. You could use a brush dipped in nail varnish - but you'll have to be super accurate!
Finally a base and top coat - i've used Champneys double-up coat.
 1) Apply your base coat to all nails
2) Put stripes of colour, using your nail varnishes, on your nails, alternating from horizontal to vertical on each nail. Don't worry about being messy...you can fix that later :)
 DRY

3) Take your white nail art pen and draw lines over your nails, over the join of the stripes drawn previously... and more!

 4) Take your black pen and carry on drawing lines over your nails, mostly on the joins. When that's done, be creative! Draw some dots, triangles, squiggles etc. in between the lines.
DRY
5) Top coat and tidy up with nail varnish remover and a cotton bud et voila! Funky aztec nails in no time!

 Hey all,

Last week was half-term so with our exams finished me and Jess could enjoy a little break, which was the best time I have had in ages. We took a very spontaneous trip to the seaside (so random in fact that we thought of it on the day, packed our bags and left!) We went to the seaside town of Worthing which was so gorgeous, it was such a beautiful day which called for walks on the beach, paddling in the water and of course fish and chips (but in our case just chips!)

Having fallen in love with Brighton a couple of months ago, Worthing did not disappoint and could easily compete with Brighton, the beach runs for miles, the people are so lovely but what clinched it for us has to be the bumper cars! I haven't been on dodgems since I was about 6 and I have to say despite making us look like complete idiots squashed into tiny cars it was so much fun! We felt like little kids again, and there's nothing wrong with that right?!

I debated whether to keep the video in, but I thought why not, it will make you laugh if anything at how stupid we look!

So the weekend brought with it the lushest weather imaginable!! The kind of weather that makes every sun deprived person in Britain go crazy mad and go out onto the streets in next-to-nothing. Nevertheless it was such a gorgeous day and me and Jess spent the afternoon with some iced coffees and a cinamon pretzel to share (sorry for the lack of foodie pictures as you can probably imagine it was gobbled up before I could get my camera out of my bag!!) Jess wore her toothpaste kisses tshirt that I made her for her birthday- which was perfect for the spell of hot weather- and so I thought I would use a lyric from what is possibly the most beautiful song ever written.

On the subject of sunny weather I am still searching for the perfect sunnies, has anyone picked up a nice pair recently?

Your carbon makes a star, and after all, that's all we are

Hey all,

It was Jess's 17th birthday on Sunday and I organised a surprise get together with some of our friends which was so nice! Haha as you can probably tell from the picture above (Jess will hate me for putting that up!) she wasn't expecting it! If you follow us on instagram you would have seen that one of Jess's presents was a Maccabees laptop cover, which we then got crazy excited about because the Maccabees liked our post, wow we are such fangirls! We went to Zizzi which is a super tasty Italian resturant and if there is one nearby you we definitely reccomend it! Continuing with Maccabees related presents I made Jess a 'toothpaste kisses' tshirt (has to be one of the cutest songs ever!) It was such a fun night, only bad thing is I still have to wait four months till I'm 17 (the perks of being a summer baby!)

What we wore:
Me- dress- Tk Maxx, Boots- Topshop, Cardi- Susan Bristol
Jess- Shirt- Bershka, Shoes- Topshop, Belt- River Island, Shorts- Vintage, Rings- Accessorise

Hey all,

Hope everyone had a good start to their week! We break up from sixth form in a couple of days, I would say I was looking forward to it but the amount of revision which awaits me is a little bit depressing! But, the thought of spring, dresses and hopefully being able to put away my black tights is something I am looking forward to!

In an attempt to cure my Maccabees obbession (although realistically thats never going to happen!), I am discovering some new music, My number by Foals is my favourite on their album, and such a great upbeat track to get us though these last days of winter!!

What music are you loving at the moment?
If you have never listened to The Maccabees, do it now, you will not be dissapointed!
