I love this country dearly, I can feel this ladder clearly, but I never thought i'd be alone to try...

Hey :)
Happy days everyone, Paloma is back from sunny Spain!!! She just texted me saying she's landed and safe, this means more and more posts on the blog...and Spanish posts! Finally some sunshine on the blog. Talking of sunshine, us Londoners are experiencing something so alien to us, yes, higher temperatures and sunlight. This goes perfectly with Wimbledon, and I have to admit i've already had my fair share of strawberries and cream, whoever thought of that combo is a genius!

Well, here is a quick post of mine and Paloma's farewell ice-creams, the day before she left for Spain. We went to a cute lil' vintage style cafe, round the corner from our sixth form (convenient!), and bought  some delicious ice-cream, yes, all home made!! Paloma got peanut butter ice-cream, how anyone can eat the stuff i'll never know, and I got the luscious salted caramel. Brings back the memories of the beach where the salty air just seems to merge with anything you eat :)

Ooh, I have some news! I'm off on work experience in a theatre, as many of you know I have a passion  for theatre and acting. I'm so excited! Also, i'm hoping to study drama at drama school (if i get in), or uni. I've been to a couple of open days but at the moment, Bristol is really on the cards. It's so quirky with all of the vintage boutiques and tea rooms. Any suggestions?

Paloma and I will speak to you very soon, loads of love, Jess xxx

It's time to change your empty life, you gotta pick yourself up with your half-filled cup...

Me again!
So, Paloma's away in the lush city of Barcelona enjoying the rays of sun, while i'm sat at home in dreary London sniffling, eating ice cream and watching films because yes...I have a summer cold :( For those of you who don't live in the UK, this is a tradition every year as us Brits aren't used to the sudden change in weather, not that you'd believe it looking out the window!

Yesterday Paloma interrupted my New Girl slot on a Tuesday evening with a Skype call whilst snuggled up in bed, in my pyjamas and a cuppa, which made me feel so much better! She filled me in on all of the fiestas, amazing food, gorgeous spaniards and a sprinkling of work experience. Yesterday she went off to a house warming party and baked a batch of her famous red velvet cupcakes, a post up soon :)

Here is a really random post...REALLY mismatched but i'm ill so forgive me :) So, recently Paloma and I have been fundraising for our sixth form common room's redecoration as we are the new heads of sixth form. This entailed baking numerous batches of cookies, cupcakes and tray-bakes. As you can see from the pics below, Paloma and I had just been out for a run (I KNOW, WE ARE ACTUALLY DOING EXERCISE!), but Paloma (you can tell she's the smart one) brought a change of clothes. But tbh I quite like my new joggers - courtesy of Forever 21 - I highly recommend them!

What do you guys think about putting up some 'summer body' themed posts - i.e exercise regimes, healthy snacks and eating posts, like once a month??

Love you all, the 'very ill' Jess xxx

When the city shines like the sun at night, and I feel it in my heart in my hips...

Woooooooo Summer is OFFICIALLY here, although this outfit post is clearly not themed for the summer season. A couple of posts back I mentioned 'no more black tights and boots' and as you can see, here i'm sporting both :/ This shows all our readers in other parts of the world, while most of you are enjoying your scorching weather and blinding sun, us Brits are battling with wind, sheltering from torrential rain and snuggling up in blankets in order to counteract the chilly weather :(

I can clearly speak for myself in GB as my 'other blogging half' Paloma is in Spain and has been torturing me with messages saying 'off to the beach today' 'aww it's so sunny here' 'off for tapas' 'going to a party tonight, so nervous'. 99.9% of me is so excited for her and I literally can't wait to see all of the outfit posts she's taking (don't worry, you'll not be left out, up on blog asap). But 0.1% of me has become the green eyed monster and is raging with jealousy, wishing to eat monster-sized portions of Ben and Jerry's to console myself.

Well, now i've got that mini rant out of my system, a lot of you will know, Paloma and I barely spend any time apart so as you can imagine I feel like i've just been through a break-up (more Ben and Jerry's for me) and am missing her terribly, let's hope this week isn't too long,

Love you, my little Bumble Bees, Jess xxx

P.S - WE ARE JOINT HEAD OF SIXTH FORM!!!! Wahey! We recently go our badges and want to start revamping the Common Room with music collages of our fave bands, collages of photos, a mini kitchen, numerous bean bags, blinds that actually block light and a new lick of paint. Prom's coming up, so we better start planning! Anyone got any ideas? xx

Cause I've been around two times and found that you're the only thing I need

Hey all!

So this will be the last post I will write until next weekend as I am off on work experience in Barcelona for a week with my auntie which I am so so excited about! Jess will be taking care of the blog for a week or so, so you are in good hands!

Sadly for us the weather is still a bit all over the place here so evenings are often spent with a tea and TV. Is anyone watching The Returned? Its a French thriller drama that they are showing on channel 4 at the moment and it is so good! We are both hooked

Have a fab rest of the week,
Loads of love, Paloma xxx

Don't call it a fight, when you know it's a war...

The City - The 1975

Hello there my lovelies :)
How are we all? Paloma and I are goood and Paloma especially because she's off to Barcelona on the weekend! I'm so jealous and am considering hiding in her suitcase. A whole week without my best mate (we are inseparable) seems like ages and i'm not looking forward to finding things to do :/

One positive thing is that i can help her pack...outfit planning packing party :)
Anyone got any plans for summer??

Loads of love, Jess xxx

Father's Day Cupcakes

Hey everyone!

So in Britain, it is Father's Day Tomorrow and if, like me you are a little bit unorganised and haven't got round too or ahem forgotten (we have all done it!) to get something for your dad then this is a really effective and pretty simple solution!

My dad is a golf teacher so I couldn't think of a better thing to make than some golf inspired cupcakes! I am not normally one to venture into the novelty cakes territory, due to many stressful attempts in the past but trust me this is really easy to do! and it works for birthdays as well :)

The recipe makes 18 cupcakes, 4 for the bunker section, 7 for the grass and 7 for the green!

How to make the cupcakes

 Ingredients:
160g caster Sugar160g Butter or Margarine
3 Medium Eggs
160g Self Raising Flour
1 Teaspoon on Vanilla Extract
18 Cupcake Cases

Frosting:
110g of Butter or Margarine
340g of Icing Sugar

5 digestive biscuits
Green food colouring

1) Preheat the oven to 180*C/350*F/Gas 4.
2)Cream the Butter and Sugar in a bowl until pale and fluffy
3)Add the eggs and vanilla extract
4)Fold in the flour slowly with a spatula
Spoon the mixture evenly into 18 cupcake cases
5)Bake for 15-20 minutes

Making the 'bunker' cupcakes:
The bunker is the sandy part of the golf course (yes that is as far as my knowedge of golf goes!) so I thought that the best way to create this was by using digestive biscuits!

Ice four cakes with plain frosting (ingredients above) and cover with crumbled digestive biscuit (pop about 5 in the food processor!)
Making the 'grass' Cupcakes

You should ice 7 cupcakes for the grass section
Add green food colouring to the remaining icing!
Add half of this to a piping bag with a small nozzle, pip away in small strips
'The Green' Cupcakes
At this stage you can either chose to add more food colouring to make a darker green and apply to the remaining seven cupcake OR you can use a spray on green which I did!

Finishing Touches
I think that the flag is pretty self explanatory, a cocktail stick and some paper will do, for the golf ball I rolled some marzipan and covered it with icing sugar!
Voila! A teeny weeny edible golf course, what more could a dad want?!

Happy Father's Day everyone!

Loads of love, Paloma xxx

Hey all!

So these photos were taken last week when we were hit with a sudden sunny spell, which lead to hopes that the whole summer might follow in a similar fashion, however, sadly the sun didn't last and I have actually felt myself grabbing for my coat these past few days! It is June what is happening?!

This weekend will be spent going to a barbeque with friends celebrating the end of exams and watching endless coverage of the Isle of Wight Festival whilst silently sobbing at the fact that I am not there!

What are you up to this weekend?

Lots of love, Paloma xxx
