Hey!

or should I say 'bonjour!', less than a week till we are off to Paris for a couple of days, I am so excited as I have never been before, any reccomendations of where to go whilst in the city? Its going to be freezing which calls for a lot of layering, I am such a poor suitcase packer, and always manage to buy too much so that it can't fit in on the way back, opps!
Both me and Jess opted for skirt and jumper combos today, something which seems to be making a constant re-appearence in my wardrobe these days, I think it may be beacause you can create so many different combinations, which is always a bonus! Jess mixed burgundy and tweed in her outfit, creating a great winter look, as for me, well I am rarely seen without my scarf these days, its too cold!

Lots of love, Paloma xxx

You get tea when its raining, tea when its snowing...

The Kinks - Have a cuppa tea

Hey my lovelies :)
How are we all feeling this miserable January? Here in London, as you know it's been snowing!!! It never snows in London and we all were seriously doubting that it would settle, but it proved us wrong. Unfortunately, its already melted and we didn't really have enough time to thoroughly enjoy it.
One thing that I think of when it's snowing, is 'when is my next cup of tea?'. Now, im a green tea/white tea fan myself, but Paloma is a tradiotional English breakfast tea lover. On a recent shopping trip (looking for 20's style dresses for a future 'era' post), we popped into the lovely Carluccio's to seek refuge from the cold, and to grab a quick cuppa and cake.
So...my question for you is, Tea or Coffee?

Love you loads, Jess (coffee lover) xxx

The Maccabees- Go

Recently I have been reading a lot of wishlists and photographs looking forward to Spring fashions and warmer days, but here is london, spring has never seemed further away...

Its snowing... it started in the morning and hasn't stopped since! Snow always brings out the little kid in me, its just soo much fun, snowballs and snow-men and I am seriously considering some sleighing tomorrow, am going to have to find a make shift sleigh... any ideas?

Snow is also beautiful to take photgraphs in, although a heavy amount of out-takes from constant squinting and snow in eyes moments!

Hope everyone has enjoyed their friday, have a great weekend!!

When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums...

'Do you hear the people sing?'- Les Miserables
Hey everyone,

So I couldn't resist the title of this post, if you follow us on instagram or even worse were sitting in the same cinema as us then I apologise for all our les miserables rantings and uncontrollable sobbing! The cast was perfect, and me and Jess love Eddie Redmayne so that was another bonus! To anyone who hasn't seen Les Mis go now (and bring a pack of tissues, or two!), it was utterly breathtaking and now has a firm place as one of my favourite films of all time, and that is some tough compeition! Plus, the songs are on constant repeat on my iPod...

Now back to the post! These photographs were taken a couple of weeks ago when me and Jess went to Hackney to The Vintage Kilo Sale. Basically the 'sale' consisted of a warehouse containing huge containers full to the brim of vintage clothes (every bloggers dream!). The day was spent rummaging through thousands of dresses, coats and xmas jumpers, you name it, they had it! I couldn't stop laughing  as me and Jess were literally falling into the containers with our legs almost sticking out! (getting a bit too into it I guess...)

The next kilo sale is in Leeds on the 24th Jan, so if you are in the area its definitely worth a visit, plus check the facebook dates to check further events!

Has anyone else been to any great vintage or car- boot sales?

The Pinafore Dress...

Hi Guys,
Here is a quick post to show you all how we both style the staple item that is The Pinafore Dress. It may sound old fashioned but is a key feature on the rails of Topshop and River Island. In this post, we are both styling a burgundy Pinafore Dress due to the fact that here in London it still feels like winter and burgundy is very on trend.

So, Paloma and I had a brainwave, before we set our hearts on it, we would like to hear your thoughts on us starting ...cos it's The Bee's Knees Shop. It would start as a low key jewellry/accessories shop and then hopefully expand, but what do you guys all think of it, and what would you like to see on the online shelves?

Have an amazing week, Jess xxx

Style Icon- The Pinafore Dress: Alexa Chung

One of the most fashion conscious celebs out there, it's no wonder Alexa Chung is one of our style icons. The Pinafore Dress is seen being sported by Alexa Chung on numerous occasions, so whenever you're stuck for an outfit with this staple item, you know who to take inspiration from :)

Sugars and spices, slices and dices

Tiramisu

Hey everyone,

I apologise in advance for potentially breaking any healthy-eating resolutions once you have read this next post. My two favourite things have to be desserts and a good old cup of coffee, and whichever genius thought up the idea of mixing these two wonderful things together is amazing...Tiramisu has to be the best dessert of all time (calories aside), I made it on New Year's Eve and thought I would share this recipe with you, its from BBC Good Food (never fails me!) and is so so easy to make!

DSC01044

Ingredients
  • 568ml pot double cream
  • 250g tub mascarpone
  • 75ml Marsala
  • 5 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 300ml strong coffee , made with 2 tbsp coffee granules and 300ml boiling water
  • 175g pack sponge fingers
  • 25g chunk dark chocolate (optional)
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
DSC01048

DSC01049

1)Put the cream, mascapone, sugar and alcohol (I chose Tia-Maria) into a bowl,

2) Whisk until fully combined and has the consistency of thickly whipped cream

3) Put the cooled coffee into a shallow dish and dip in a few sponge fingers at a time- don't let them get too soggy (like the one in the photo!)
4) Layer these into the dish until you have used half of them

DSC01070

5) Layer and spread half of the cream mixture on top of the fingers
6) Then repeat the layer again

7) Sprinkle with cocoa powder and chill, or alternatively eat straight away!

Entice you with this leopard print and matching velvet duvet...

New Years EveFirst Love - The Maccabees

Hey everyone :)

How is everyone in the new year? I'm feeling quite stresses at the moment due to some exams at school which have detracted from the fun of the Christmas holidays due to an excessive amount of revison.

A positive thing that keeps me going is Paris. At the end of January, Paloma and I are going to Paris to attend a business conference and of course doing some sight-seeing :) This will obviously be a great opportunity to take some pics and will definitely be a future post on the blog.

Back to now, on New Years Eve, due to our families being so close, Paloma's family kindly invited my family to bring in the New Year at Paloma's house. It was so much fun! There is something about a family New Year that just beats one with entirely your friends. Luckily we manages to take some outfit pics of the day before having one too many rum and cokes :)

What did everyone do on New Years and What are your plans for 2013?

Loads of love, Jess xxx
