The Great Pink Bake Off

Hey all!

A slightly different post today, talking about the Great Pink Bake Off. As you may know this month was Breast Cancer Awareness month, where people across the country help to raise funds for this amazing charity. After attending a Breakthrough event last month Jess and I couldn't wait to get fundraising and when we heard about the Nationwide Cake Sale we couldn't think of a better way to raise some cash (when someone mentions cake there is no stopping us!)

So last Friday, we organised a Great Pink Bake Off in our Sixth form, where our lovely friends baked cakes for us to sell at Break time. We raised over £100, and were absolutely thrilled. A huge thanks to all those who baked and brought for us, we love you!

There is still time to get involved, head over to http://pinkbakeoff.org/  for more information!

 Hey lovelies :)
We have certainly been busy bees over the last couple of days, UCAS is finally complete for both of us, cheeky Paloma is applying for Oxford so she had that weight lifted off her shoulders a long time ago.  Gosh, uni is a stressful thought, so near but yet so far, and that fact that we probably won't go to the same uni is a daunting prospect.

So, on a lighter note, it's Half Term woooo :) With Halloween creeping around the corner, Paloma and I have been making our outfits,  carving pumpkins and just getting generally excited for a Halloween party which we are going to! What are you all dressing up as?

This is a quick lil outfit post of what we wore to an Everything Everything gig in Camden's The Forum. We had such an amazing time seeing Outfit and Dutch Uncles as support acts and managed to get to the barrier, front row screaming occured...ooh and also grabbed ourselves a set list - pics on Instagram :)

Speak to you all soon, Jess xxx

The way to bake a delicious cake...

Way to Bake - Snow White

How to make the best coffee cake!!!
THE most desired coffee cake in our Sixth Form, I give all credit to the gorgeous Mary Berry!

(cheeky Instagram pic)

Ingredients:
For the sponge -
200g butter
200g self raising flour
200g sugar
4 tbsp coffee essence
4 eggs
2tbsp vanilla essence
2tsp baking powder

For the icing -
75g butter
250g icing sugar
1tbsp coffee essence
2 tbsp milk

Preheat the oven to 160'C
Put all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat until well combined
I like to use an electric whisk for around 5 minutes
Line 2 8inch tins with greaseproof paper or baking parchment and separate mixture
Place in the over for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean
Mix the ingredients for the icing in a bowl and beat until well combined and of a good consistency
Once the sponge is cool, spread on icing with a palette knife for the filling and on top. Decorate with walnut halves and/or chocolate coffee beans

...et voila, tuck in :)

Hey all,

Here is a little sixth form outfit post taken on Thursday! Thursday is fitness time (hence the converse and dread on our faces!) Only kidding of course, its actually pretty fun when you put your mind to it. We have also both cut down on sugar which has lead to cravings galore! We will keep you posted on how it's going!

Its Breast Cancer awareness month, so we are going to be taking part in the Great Pink Bake off on Friday, and we would be so happy if some of you guys did too! All it takes is a little bit of baking and a whole lot of selling to raise money for such a good cause!

Loads of love,

Let them eat cake!...

Hey Guys!!!

So, Paloma and I recently took part in Cafod's 'Big Share' in order to raise money for children in Africa. We baked and baked for this fundraiser event in which the entirety of our sixth form took part in, whether it was to bake the numerous and delicious cakes, or to buy heaps and heaps, after all, who can say no to cake!

We raised a huge amount of money, considering the size of our little sixth form  close to the £300 mark :) We are so proud of our year and want to thank Eleanor and Hannah (our liturgy reps) for setting it all up.

Below, you can see our bakes. I made two coffee cakes which were much desired, at the end of the day, coffee cake is the best kind of cake, and Paloma made amazing Nutella macaroons! Don't they look shop-bought! Recipes on the blog soon :)

Anyway, we want you all to take part in a fundraiser! They're so much fun and we'll be doing one for Breakthough Breastcancer next week, wish us luck!

Loads of love, Jess xxx
