Oh My Goodness!

Hey all :) Just wanted to say, before anything else, we have reached 100 followers! This is such a big deal to us and we want to say thanks to all the amazing support we have been receiving lately and a BIG hello to all our new followers :) we couldn't be happier.

Also we were estatic when we discovered that we had been nominated for The Versatile Blogger award! It means so much to us and the biggest thank you to Rachel P for giving us the award! Her blog is really great and you should definitely check it out :) We will write more about the award in our next post :)

We are hoping to be posting a lot more in the coming weeks as holidays have come at last! It's finally the end of an exam-heavy term and I can't wait! Despite all the stress, I still managed to do LOADS last weekend :) As well as going to the amazing monochrome party the next day we went to the Sport Relief concert in the O2. Being a self confessed OLLY MURS fan (I LOVE him, he is just gorgeous!), as soon as I found out he was doing the concert I had to go :)

The gorgeous Olly Murs performing :)
Olly joined by Rizzle Kicks on stage :)

It was so much fun and for a great cause. Other acts included Rizzle Kicks and JLS (who are not normally my cup of tea, but they were actually really good!). The higlight of the day (apart from seeing Olly of course) had to be the surpirse appearence of Miranda Hart on stage with fellow characters, Gary and Stevie. 'Miranda' is the funniest programme ever and if you havn't seen it yet, its defintely one to watch! and so seeing the actors just added to an already AMAZING day! :)

Hello you beauties,
We're so sorry we haven't done a post in a while but we have had the most hectic weekend, filled with parties and concerts (which happens once in a blue moon) :)

On Friday, we were both invited to our friend Emily's 16th Birthday party. The theme was Monochrome (black and white), so we thought we would show you some of our beautiful friends and what they were wearing,

Happy Madre's Day :)

Paloma's Lemon cakes :)
Edd Kimber's book 'The Boy who Bakes'

Hey Everyone! Happy Mother's Day to all you Mums or to your Mothers :) We thought we would do a quick little post on what we baked our mums today.
Paloma made these really cute and delicious Lemon Cakes (comment if you would like the recipe).
I made this yummy Passionfruit and Lime tart. I've never tasted fresh passionfruit before let alone baked with it, so it was bound the be a challenge...but it ended up being fine and scoring a solid 10/10 with my mum :)
Loads of love, Jess xx

Passionfruit and Lime Tart500g pack of shortcrust pastry
Plain flour (rolling)
8 passionfruits (halved and pulp removed)
1 lime
200g of Caster Sugar
6 egg yolks
150 ml double cream/ creme fraiche
Icing sugar to dust (blowtortch)
1st Step
Scoop out the pulp of your Passionfruits.

2)With a Blender or Stick, whizz the Passionfruit.

3)Next, push the pulp through a sieve, leave behind all of the pips.

4)Zest and juice your lemon and add to the Passionfruit.

5)Separate your eggs, but don't disgard the whites as they can be used for another recipe, e.g Macaroons.

6)Add your eggs to the sugar.

7)Whisk up the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.

8)Take your shortcrust pastry and push it into a tart case which has been greased. Then prick with a fork.

9)Blind bake the pastry with greaseproof paper and baking beans/ lentils, for 15 mins.

10)Meanwhile, add the passionfruit mix to the egg mix.

11)When the pastry is done, pour in the mixture in carefully.

12) With a sharp knife, cut off the excess pastry so that it wont get burnt.

13) Pop in the oven for 40 mins, at 140 C/ Gas mark 1.

14) When cooled, sprinkle with icing sugar then blowtortch to caramelize.

15) Finito :) It was LUSH!!!! And my mum loved it <3 Leave your comments and suggestions xxx

Celebration coffees :)

Hey all :) Firstly, I can't believe we have reached over 75 followers in our first month!!!! We are so happy and were literally screaming down the phone to each other when we realised! This is more than we could ever have hoped for, thanks to everyone who follows, reads and leaves such lovely comments on the blog, they mean a lot! and we read every one of them :) Also, me and Jess just wanted to say  sorry that we haven't posted in a week!  :( I guess it has been down to the stress of exams, but after neglecting the blog for a week I am  pretty sure it will never happen again because we have really missed it!

Sorry for the big intro, now to the actual post :) Me and Jess treated oursleves to yet another shopping trip! Although these mainly consist of gazing into shop windows and adding the millionth item to our wish lists, it is always so much fun! We stopped off to have some coffees, which were gorgeous! and the perfect boost so that the shopping could continue for a few more hours :)

Both me and Jess were on a mission to find some black wedges, which are super versatile and a perfect staple item :) We wanted to find some which were easy to walk in and comfy, which is a lot harder than it sounds! After a lot of looking we found some! A gorgeous pair of black wedges from Deichmann. These are definitely going to feature in a lot of outfit posts to come and they were only £17...
I am in love!
So here are our outfits for a casual trip shopping :)

Happy St.David's and New Facebook Page

Hey everyone :) Firstly thanks so much for all the support, it means so much to us! and we are so grateful <3
Also, we have set up a Facebook Page for the blog, and we would love it if you could like the page, just click here
So now to the rather random post, in case you didn't know today is St.David's day- which is National Welsh Day :) and although I'm a little biased (being half Welsh and all :))  I thought that I would do a quick baking post on one of my favourite things to make and eat- Welsh cakes! Similar to scones, the sugar covered, cinnamon lovelies are irresistable and definately worth a try! The perfect thing to make if you ever need a sweet fix in a dash, and amazing with a cuppa :) Enjoy!

Paloma xx

Ingredients
230g self rasing flour
110g butter
85g sugar
55g raisins or currants
1 egg
Cinammon (to your liking)

1) Sieve the flour into a bowl with the cinnamon and then rub in the butter until it is like fine breadcumbs, then add the sugar and raisins/currants and mix well. Beat the egg and add to the bowl. Mix well, until the mixture forms a ball.

2) Then knead for a few minutes, then roll out on a floured surface until about 1cm thick.

3) Using a circular cutter (although feel free to experiment with other shapes!) cut into shapes. Should make roughly 12 cakes.

4) Heat a little vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the cakes on both sides for about 4-8 minutes in total. Keep an eye on them otherwise they will burn!

5) By far the best stage! Serve hot and sprinkle with icing sugar, as much or as little as you like! I like mine nice and sweet :)

And thats it, Welsh Cakes in 5 easy steps, it literally takes 10 minutes, and is so worth it!
